Competition «Photo film – 2011»

Competition theme is the same as the theme of the Photography Festival ChernihivPhotoFest “School”. Any different interpretations and meanings of the topic is possible. School as a period of childhood and adolescence, school as a system of knowledge, as a life period of person`s development, as a school of survival or overcoming life difficulties etc.

Photo film should consist of photographs united by general idea, screen script and the plot. Any additional medias as the sound, texts and video effects should match the theme of the film and express its idea.

The film author may not be the author of the photographs. In this case he should have written approval for using the photographs from their author.

Participation conditions: No limits for participants` age or place of living.

One participant can apply with only one film.

Applications should be sent till the 10s of September 2011.

Specifications:
First frame of the film should contain the film title, name and surname of the author below, year of creating the film below. First frame duration is 5 seconds. Resolution is not less than 1280х720, viewing format is 16х9, video format is MPG-2 (compression MPG-2) or AVI (codacks cinepack, XVid, high quality). Film duration is no longer than 5 minutes.
Photo film should be saved archived in zip or rar format. File name should contain family name and first letters of the authors name. For example, for Sidorov Ivan Petrovich the file should be named as sidorov_ip.zip. If there are several authors of the film the file name contains only one author`s name but all co-authors are listed in application form and first frame of the film.

File is loaded on any online file sharing site, the link to the file together with application form is sent to chernihivphotofest.com.ua

Application form should contain: author/authors of the film, country and city of the author, name of the film, email and contact phone number of the author/authors.

Finalists and prize winners are chosen by the jury, this decision is final and its motifs are not commented.

Competition jury:

• Bogdan Verzhbitskiy – the head of cinematography department KNUTCT (Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television by Karpenko-Karogo) (Kiev, Ukraine)
• Michael Kalamkarov – photographer, author of documentary films and advertising, teacher of MSUCA (Moscow State University of Culture and Arts), member of creative group Stankovaya Photographia XXI (Moscow, Russia)
• Aleksander Lyapin – photographer, photo critic, teacher (Kiev, Ukraine)

Announcement of participants list will be held on the 02/10/2011 in Chernihiv during the opening of ChernihivPhotoFest. Authors got 1, 2, 3 first places will be awarded by diplomas and prizes. Show of the best 10 films of the competition will be done the same day.

Organizers and partners of the festival have a right to use photo films or their fragments for noncommercial purposes as well as competition promotion before and after its holding, including any media such as TV, exhibitions, publications. All other cases of using participants` photographs will be discussed with the author.
